Dear Yarra Resident,
I hope that you, your friends and your family are managing to keep well during this difficult period. I know that the past few months have altered our community dramatically and no one has been left untouched by the impact of the pandemic.
During October we will all be voting in elections to choose councillors for the next four years. Much of those four years ahead of us will be concerned with recovery from the impacts of COVID-19. I strongly believe that there is a crucial role for local government in rebuilding our connections to each other, and revitalising our local businesses. This is why I’m writing to ask for your vote.
We love the community around us for the vitality and diversity that it offers. This vibrant community life has been hit hard by the recent restrictions. It is critical that we deploy all the resources of government, especially at the local level, to return our streets and suburbs to being the spaces that we all enjoy so much. This is also an opportunity to carefully consider what we can change, to make our local area a more liveable and healthier place.
Although I am passionate about transport, community services, and the careful stewardship of our natural resources, I am not a candidate who will campaign on a limited number of policies. Local government is about a huge range of complex issues and I believe that we need to elect leaders who are capable of handling whatever might arise over the next four years. I have experience leading teams in technology and finance companies, for two ombudsman services (the Financial Ombudsman Service and the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman), and within government (at Public Transport Victoria). I bring with me a broad range of experience and a strong desire to apply this to improving the services provided by Yarra City Council.
I promise to you that I will deliver energy, enthusiasm and an independent voice to your local government. I am not affiliated with any political party, and I am not accepting donations from anyone. I am self-funding my campaign and giving up my time because I am concerned with the issues that impact our local area.
Please feel free to follow me on Twitter or Instagram for a more personal insight into the type of person I am. Also, don’t hesitate to get in touch by phone or email (both included below) if you’d like to raise issues or ask questions about my views on the things that are most important to you.
All the best,
How to Vote
I encourage everyone to carefully consider your candidates and make up your own mind on who would be the best representative for you. If you’re not sure, this is my recommendation for how to vote, based what I know about each of the candidates.
